System Mechanic

System Mechanic is still another registry cleaner on the market that people have the choice of using. The System Mechanic is ranked number seven out of the ten most popular. Which means that it does not come highly recommended.

Highlights:

  • One purchase will load onto a maximum of three computers
  • Relatively easy to understand and follow instructions
  • Offers more than just cleaning the registry
  • Competitively prices

Special Features

Once a person has installed System Mechanic onto their computer they will find that it is very easy to use. With simple to follow instructions, it makes it easy for the novice user to use and understand. One of the best features about System Mechanic is that it gives a warning every time a user tries to fix an error. Which for knowledgeable users can become a bit redundant and annoying.

In addition to cleaning the registry, System Mechanic also offers disk repair, shortcut reconnector, defragmenter, PC startup optimizer, application uninstaller and also secure the file wiper. These are services that not every registry cleaner will offer and may only be acquired after purchasing several programs and applications for much more than System Mechanic costs.

One of the drawbacks that many people have reported is that the program never offers a time frame or a progress bar to show how things are progressing. Which means that once you start a scan, who knows how long you will be sitting there waiting for the program to complete its run. In addition, you will have to restart the computer in order for the changes to take effect. Another problem that people have disliked is that once you remove errors from the registry you can never really see what the error was or what caused it. Other people have reported that after using System Mechanic they had start up programs that did not work properly or were moved, which adds on to the frustration with the program.

Costs

For a year, System Mechanic costs about $35. However, this includes using it on three different computers, which essentially means you are paying around $11.66 per computer. Which is pretty cheap when compared to other registry cleaners.

Final Recommendations

Though, System Mechanic does offer some great additions on top of the registry cleaner, the drawbacks of not really having any proof as to why the error occurred or where it was located is frustrating. In addition, not knowing how long the scan will take can put a damper on the use of your computer. We no longer recommend System Mechanic as it just doesn’t really stand up to the other registry cleaners & pc optimizers such as SpeedyPC Pro.
